Canton Trip, a Wedding, and a First Communion

Saturday 5/2/09- Mom, Dad, Jamie (my cousin) and I went to Canton! Mom, Dad and I left Waco at 5:30 am and arrived in Canton at 8:15am. We met Jamie there and immediately started shopping. Dad went off on his own for most of the day to look at "guy" stuff. He searched for places that sold guns all day, but I don't think he ever found that part! Mom, Jamie and I had a full day of shopping! We left Canton at 7:15pm, which means we were shopping for 11 hours! Our legs and feet were SO sore, but it was all worth it!

Mike went to Kirk and CarrieAnne's wedding in San Marcos. He said it was very nice, and he had a lot of fun! I'm sad I missed it but had Canton and the communion going on that same weekend. He wasn't able to take pics b/c I had the camera with me.

Sunday 5/3/09- My 7 yr old cousin Abby had her First Holy Communion today at our church in Waco. She was so proud of herself and looked so pretty in her dress and veil. She also got to do the reading at the Mass. She did awesome! We couldn't take pictures of the communion b/c it was during Mass, but took some afterwards.

This is Abby with her 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. York. She was also my 2nd grade teacher many years ago at the same school, St. Louis Catholic School.

Abby with her godmother, Marie.

Abby and Jacob with their dad, James.
After the Mass, we went to La Fiesta to celebrate and chow down. We had the back room, and Abby's godmother had a cake waiting for her. As you can tell, she is not shy and is quite the ham in front of the camera!

Our Big News!!!

Friday, 5/1/09- Our BIG News! We had a doc appt today and found out we are having a little girl!!! I guess my motherly instinct has not kicked in yet, because I was totally wrong! Mike and I (and everyone else for that matter) thought we were having a boy. Don't know why...just a feeling, but we had it wrong! We were shocked but super happy! I promised Mike we would not paint the nursery pink. She will have lots of pink clothes, but I am honoring his wish by not going with a pink nursery!

We were not supposed to have an ultrasound on Friday, but I BEGGED my doctor! I told her that my mom was coming in town to be at this appt with us (true) and that we had a big shopping trip planned on Saturday to pick out baby stuff (also true). She was awesome and told us that she would hate to interfere with our shopping trip! She was extremely busy but still did the ultrasound. At first the baby wasn't moving much, but then she started moving, thank goodness. Finally, she was able to see what she needed to see and said that she was quadruple checking just to be sure, so that we didn't buy the wrong stuff at Canton! She asked if we were ready, and then started typing on the ultrasound "ITS A" and then she paused and asked us what we thought it was. Of course, we all 3 (Mom, Mike and me) said we thought it was a boy. Then, she typed in "G" and the rest. and we all gasped! We were all in shock and of course I was crying. It was such an awesome moment! It is such a good feeling to be able to call it a "she" and a "her". I feel like this baby finally has an identity. We can decide on a name and call her by name. We are so lucky to have a healthy baby so far!

I guess we should've taken our fortunes seriously. Mike and I have eaten chinese food twice from 2 different places since I have been pregnant, and we received fortunes in our fortune cookies that really grabbed our attention. The words on the back said "Girl" on 2 of them and "Daughter" on another! We thought for sure they were wrong! But looks like they weren't! Here are the pics.....

Yesterday was not a great day!

Yesterday-
1) Bad day at work.  And the kids are crazy b/c of the bad weather and the TAKS test tomorrow.  You can never know how much the weather affects a kid's behavior unless you have taught elementary school!  I am not a fan of rainy days!

2) Found out that my doc appt on Friday will not include a sonogram to find out the sex of the baby.  We were SO planning on finding out on Friday.  My mom had even taken off work to come from Waco to be at the appt.  And.....Mom and I were going to Canton on Saturday to look for baby stuff (since I was going to know boy/girl).  Guess plans have changed!  We have another appt on Monday, May 11th, so looks like we will find out then.

3) Came home to find my computer freaking out.  Pretty sure it has a virus.  I see buying a new computer in our near future. :(

4) Then, I get a call from the fraud department for my credit card.  "Suspicious activity" was going on and my account had been "compromised", so they canceled my credit card.  Now, I have to call everyone who automatically withdraws from that credit card monthly to change it with them.  Geez...

The good news is that I listed our daybed and treadmill (trying to get rid of the stuff that's in the soon-to-be nursery) on Craigslist on Sunday night and BOTH items were sold my 6:00 yesterday!  Not even 24 hours later!  Probably price them too low, but that's ok.  I'm just happy those huge items are gone!

Today (Tuesday)- My 3rd graders had their Math TAKS test today.  Teachers had to "actively monitor" all day, which means no talking to the kids or anyone for that matter.  Walking around (no sitting), watching them constantly, and phones/computers turned off is not my idea of fun!  Oh well, it's over and everyone (including the kids) can BREATHE!

Furniture!

We finally decided on and bought the baby's furniture! After finding out that the crib is going to take 14-16 weeks to come in, we had to act fast! In 16 weeks I will be 35 weeks along, so that won't give me much time to finish the nursery decorating. Oh well, what can we do? The armoire and the dresser were in stock, so those are in our garage for now. We didn't realize that the pieces come assembled, so the 2 boxes in our garage are HUGE! Here is the pic of the Simmons collection we decided on....it's pretty here, but even prettier in person!
We plan on keeping this awhile because the crib converts into a toddler bed, then a daybed and finally a full-size bed with headboard and footboard. We had to buy the toddler rails and the bed rails as well....guess those will stay in our attic for a couple of years until we need them! We wanted to get something where all of the pieces were large enough to keep for a long time. Most of the furniture we had been looking at had tiny chests of drawers, and we knew that as our baby grows older, we would need bigger furniture. This is the reason we decided on this particular collection...big pieces to grow in to!

Mike went to Kirk's bachelor party this weekend in Houston. I think they had a lot of fun, but I'm sure I will never truly know everything they did! They like to keep the details secretive!

Sunday 4/19/09- We went to a Celebrity Softball Game and Outdoor Concert at the Dell Diamond. It was beautiful weather and an all-day thing 2pm-8pm. Here are some pics...LauraLee, Tom, and Patrick also came but didn't make it into any of the pics.

The lineup for the softball game and concert included: Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers, Roger Creager, Charlie Robison, Cory Morrow, Micky and the Motorcars, Jason Boland, Dale Watson, and more. NASCAR racer Kyle Petty and some major-league players also played.

Hoppy Easter! The Weekend

Thursday 4/9~ We had a 3rd grade team PJ/Game Night party at Sarah's house. Only Sarah, Jackie, Ernesto and Mike were able to come (Jackie and Chrysty couldn't make it), but we had a lot of fun! We got home late, and poor Mike had to wake up early the next day.

4/6ths of our 3rd grade team (Jackie, Ernesto, me & Sarah)

Playing dominoes and Blackjack...notice our chips!

Mike and I wore our "Schott Family Reunion" t-shirts

Good Friday 4/10~I got to sleep in (no work), but Mike had to go to "work" today. Luckily for him, "work" consisted of 18 holes of golf with his boss and some clients. That night, we went to Alamo Drafthouse for dinner and a movie....we saw I Love You Man. It was hilarious....definitely a must-see!

Saturday 4/11~Mike and I went shopping for baby furniture today. That's one of the only things we can get done before we find out the sex. We went to BabyEarth (a new place in Round Rock), Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory (there's a Baby Depot inside) and USA Baby in South Austin. USA Baby was a little pricey for our taste, but we found a few we liked at the first three places. Decisions, decisions.

Later that afternoon, we went to see Mike's cousin, Briar, perform in a UIL Theatre- One Act Play competition. She goes to Blanco High, but the competition was held at Austin High. She was the narrator of their play "Into the Woods", and she did an awesome job! Later on, the judge/critic even told her that she got a "check plus plus" as the narrator! Afterwards, we all (Jan, Lonnie, Hayley, Briar, Paxston, and Hayley's bf Cevan) went to dinner at Baby Acapulcos. YUM!

Sunday 4/12~Hoppy Easter everyone! We spent Easter in Waco with my family. We went to Easter Mass with the whole family and Memaw, and then had lunch over at Memaws. Fun Times! (Linda--if you are reading this, please remind Kyle to email me the pics...I left my camera in Austin and was unable to take pics.)

The Weekend

Friday 4/3~ We had a another doctor's appt today. Our doc said that this time she would not do an ultrasound since we have already had 3 of them. She was just going to check the baby's heartbeat using the Doppler. While using the Doppler, she could not hear the baby's heartbeat at all, so she had to get out the ultrasound machine. Those few minutes were a little scary! But...the ultrasound showed a healthy baby with a good heartbeat...what a relief! I've lost about 15 lbs since the beginning of my pregnancy from being so darn sick. As long as baby is ok, I'm happy with that! :) We will find out the big question...BOY or GIRL....at our next appt on May 1st! We predict it's a boy, but we will soon see.

15 wk ultrasound-4/3/09- Heartbeat was 145

Afterwards, Mike, Nick and I went to PF Changs and then rented Slumdog Millionaire....awesome movie!

Saturday 4/4~ First, we had Blair's (our niece's) 2nd birthday party. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAIR! Here are some pics of Blair and Brooke and the rest of the party!

Then we went to Kirk and Carrie-Anne's wedding shower at Forrest and Michelle's house. Fun times! There was good food, washers, lots of games, FlipCup, presents, and even a dance party at the end!
