Ugghhhh, work!

Even though people may think that teachers don't work in the summertime, we do! We have to do trainings, workshops, get ready for the next school year, and also teach summer school (summer school is optional). I have always taught summer school (too good of money to pass up), so I decided to teach it one last summer before it's not cost-effective anymore with a child & pay for childcare.

So far, I am working about 4 weeks this summer, and that's not including all of the meetings our 3rd grade team will have before school starts to plan lessons and get everything prepared for next year. Plus, I have to start making lesson plans for pretty much August---->December (to be on the safe side). I'm not planning on it, but in case I have to go on bedrest before my due date, my substitute teacher has to know what to teach! And then if I do have the baby in Late September, my sub plans will have to last until sometime in December.

Sooo, pretty much, I have a lot of work to do this summer, considering I have to make sub plans for about 3 months! I worked all last week...I went to the ESL (English as a Second Language) Academy and have now signed up to take the certification exam in July to become certified in ESL.

Also, Mike and I went to a "Meet & Greet" at a pediatrician's office here in Cedar Park. It's where you meet the pediatricians in a certain practice, and the doctors tell you about them, their practice, and their policies. We have 2 more of these Meet & Greets in the next couple of weeks, and then we can decide who will be Emerson's pediatrician!

I got REALLY sunburned last Friday (6/12)....oh it was BAD, and it HURT! Here's a pic, but the picture does not even do it justice.
I am peeling pretty bad right now, and its so itchy! I'm just trying to decide when its ok to go back out there. I have stayed out of the sun all week, and I'm ready to go back to the pool!

Sat, 6/20- Mike left at 7am this morning to go help his Dad for Father's Day. Him and his brother Nick went to Hallettsville to help his dad replace the barn doors on the farm. Supposedly, they blew off and the barn was wide open...perfect timing for a cheap Father's Day present (manual labor!)....so its Nick and Mike to the rescue! They are staying down there tonight and coming back in the morning.

I am meeting my Mom and Dad for dinner in Temple tonight. That way, I can give Dad his Father's Day gift since I am not in Waco this weekend. Yumm...BBQ...love it!

That's it for now.....man, I wrote a lot! Next week involves a work training and getting packed and ready for a 3-night stay in Concan, TX! Schott Family Reunion Time!

Weekend Fun!

Friday 6/12- Mike and I went to see 'The Hangover' at Alamo Drafthouse. FUNNY movie...definitely a must-see!Saturday 6/13- Mike played in a golf tournament with his work buddies at the Willie Nelson Golf Course in Spicewood, TX. While he was doing that, I babysat my niece Bailey. We went swimming at my subdivision pool. She had a great time! I met my friend LauraLee and her mom there, so that's LauraLee in the pic with Bailey.Saturday evening/night, we went to dinner with LauraLee and her mom, and then we went back over to their place for drinks (well not me) and Wii! We had fun bowling. Mike was pretty tipsy, so he had a great time attempting to HulaHoop, downhill ski, and holding yoga poses! It was quite funny!
For some reason, Mike cannot HulaHoop! He had the hardest time, so LauraLee was trying to get him to move his hips in a circular motion....it was hilarious!

LauraLee doing step aerobics.

Mike holding his "tree" position!
Sunday 6/14- We ran errands, and then went for a birthday dinner celebration at Iguana Grill. It was Mike's friend-Mark's birthday, so we had dinner on the lake with Mark, his wife Dina, their son Noah, Mike's brother Joey, his wife Paige, and some more of Mark's friends. Iguana Grill was a very cool place...it was a first time for both of us. Happy Birthday Mark!

I have an ESL (English as a Second Language) workshop to attend all week, so this next week will be no summer fun for me! :( I have to wake up early in the morning (I was spoiled all last week), so I am going to bed!

Last doc appt

6/9- I had a doc appt on Tuesday, just to check the baby's growth on an ultrasound. She has gained a pound since last month! She was 12 oz last month, and now she is 1.8 lbs (1 lb 12 oz)...very cool. Her heartbeat was 148bpm, and she is in the 41st percentile for weight at this time. They didn't print out any pics at this one. :( But everything is looking great so far, and I am feeling sooo much better! I have a 3D/4D u/s scheduled for July 2nd since Mom will be in town. Cannot wait to see her on that!

This week (June 8-12) was my first week of summer, and it was awesome! I got so much done, and I seem to have so much more energy! All of those 8-9 year olds can really drain the energy out of you, so I am so happy to have a break. With all of the trainings, workshops, and summer school I am doing, I will have to work about 4 weeks this summer, so that's about half the summer off.

Baby room...so far

Mike finished painting the nursery, and we think it looks great! If only the room was bigger! We moved the new furniture in...everything except the crib which is on backorder 'til maybe August. Right now, we have the cradle (which will go in our bedroom) in place of the crib until it arrives.

If you know me at all, you know I am a huge organizer. The first thing I had to do was find baskets/tubs for the armoire! Now I feel better... :)
As more starts to happen in here, I will post more pics. My friend Trish is painting wooden letters for the wall which spell out 'Emerson'. She is also painting a canvas to go on a different wall. Can't wait for the crib to arrive, the bedding to get done (my mother-in-law is making it), and the stuff on the wall to be finished and hung!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL '09!

Friday, 6/5- Today was the last day of school! I have now completed my 7th year of teaching! 4 years in 2nd grade and 3 years (so far) in 3rd grade! I just figured out that my 1st group of 2nd graders 8 years ago are now freshman in high school! WOW..I am getting old! Here is my class on the last day:

Tyler, Souli and Elijah
Gabriel, Xavier, and Sebastian
Caitlyn, Ariana, Ariel, Pilar and Logan
Adriana, Brittney, Michael, Royce and SamanthaKaty, Megan, Emily, Trooper, and Grant
It was a sad day b/c the group of 5th graders leaving our school for middle school (WOW) all hold a very special place in my heart. I taught many of them in 2nd grade AND in the 3rd grade b/c I moved up with them. It was a GREAT group of kids and parents, and I was very lucky to be with them for 2 years. Some of these kids and their parents were invited to and came to our wedding! I am going to miss them and their families as they begin their time in middle school! We always have a 5th grade parade on the last day-their "last walk through Knowles Elementary", so here are a few pictures. Good luck in Middle School!
Hailey and Ramsey--I almost named our baby Ramsey after this AWESOME little girl! I have her little brother next year, so that makes me happy!
And then, of course, what's a last day of school without another Happy Hour?! Our 3rd grade team went for Happy Hour at Taps in Cedar Park after school ended. Two of them will be leaving our team, so it was bitter-sweet. Jackie will be moving down to 2nd grade, and Sarah will be teaching 1st grade at a new school being built in Leander ISD.

Sarah, Ernesto, Esmerelda, Jackie, Chrysty, and Magen
We will be getting 2 new team members on our 3rd grade team- Annette and Justin (both currently on the 2nd grade team). I have taught with Annette before when I taught 2nd grade, and we are friends so I am excited about our new year to come but will miss Sarah and Jackie.

Still behind on my posts!

So this last weekend while in Canton, I felt Baby Emerson move around in my tummy for the first time! Very cool feeling! She was probably tired of me walking around and was telling me that I had done enough shopping for one day! I am 24 weeks along right now, so I guess that's about 6 months.

Tuesday, 6/2- Had a doc appt today. It was short and sweet! My doc just listened to her heartbeat on the Doppler, measured my belly, and answered my questions. No ultrasound at this one. My next month's appt is when they have to do the glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. I am not looking forward to drinking that yucky stuff!

I had been noticing that my belly button was starting to protrude and just thought it was part of my growing belly and the pregnancy. The doc noticed it today at this appt, and she said that it is actually a hernia (something she thinks I had before pregnancy) that is just now noticeable b/c my belly is getting bigger. I am pretty sure I know when I got it....I have pretty bad endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome and have had 3 laparoscopies (surgeries) to remove it. During each surgery, they make 3 incisions and one place is your belly button. After the last surgery (done about 3 years ago) when I took off my bandage to clean the belly button area where my stitches were, I noticed the area had opened up and there was "stuff" coming out of my belly button. I went to the Urgent Care clinic and when they saw it, they took me to the hospital immediately. That incision had opened back up, and they said my intestines were coming up! They did another surgery where they stuffed everything back in and stitched me back up. So, I am pretty sure this is where the hernia came from...3 years ago! My doc said there is nothing we can do about it right now b/c of me being pregnant, but I would have to "get it taken care of" once the baby has come. I just hope that doesn't mean a mandatory c-section. We will see!

Thursday, June 4th- Tomorrow is our last day of school, so all of us teachers are pretty tired and in need of a Happy Hour! Our secretary Cindy threw a Knowles Faculty Happy Hour at her house...Fun Times! I left before it got really crazy! From what I hear, teachers were dancing and some even got thrown in the pool with their clothes on! :) Glad I left when I did!

FUN weekend with the girls!

Friday, 5/29- Trish (a friend from work) and I headed to Waco after school. We arrived at my parent's house, and my long-time friend Christi was already over there with her little girl Hayley (our goddaughter) and her husband Brian. It was great to hang out with everyone and catch up. My college friend Debbie arrived shortly after we did, and we all went to George's Bar (minus little Hayley)....Trish, Debbie, Christi, Bryan, Mom and Dad. So much fun! We had dinner and they had Big-O-Beers...it was Debbie and Trish's first time to Georges!

Afterwards, Mom and Dad went home and the rest of us went to Wild West to hear Wade & Randy play! They were awesome as usual, and we had a lot of fun! I had forgotten that in Waco you can smoke in the bars....man, it was one huge cloud of smoke in there....probably not great for the baby, but I figured she could handle one night of second-hand smoke! Wade is a friend of Christi's and mine from 1st grade on....we are all from Waco, so it is always fun to hear him play. Randy is from TX State and went to college with Christi. His wife Brooke and Christi were roommates through college, so Christi is better friends with Brooke. She was not able to make it, but I know Christi missed her! If you get a chance, try to catch them on their acoustic tour...very entertaining! The bar was very dark and smoky, so the pics were horrible.

Here is a video of them from their acoustic tour from last year.
Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen - Songs and Stories: The Acoustic Tourl

Oh, and then when the concert was over, we hard Bryan's name get called over the loud speaker in the bar to go outside. When we go out there, the cops were waiting on him to tell him that his truck's tires had been slashed. A few of the huge, nice, tall trucks in the parking lot had their tires slashed and one truck was badly keyed. Apparently, someone was jealous of their nice trucks! So, we stayed in the parking lot until 3am with the cops and the other people who were victims to these creeps and watched them get handcuffed and arrested!

Saturday, 5/30- Canton Time! We (Deb, Trish and I) got up early and drove 2 1/2 hours to Canton to go shopping! For those that don't know, Canton has a HUGE Trade/Markets days on the first weekend of every month. It is awesome, and I would go every month if I lived closer. I had just been last month with Mom and Jamie, so I did not buy a ton of stuff this time. But Trish and Deb did! I think they really enjoyed it. We shopped for about 7 1/2 hours, and it was HOT! At about 7:30pm, we left for the 2 1/2 hour trip back to Waco. We were pooped when we got back to my parent's house! We spent the night there and left the next morning. Debbie went back to Houston, and Trish and I back to Austin.

I am a little behind...

Wednesday, 5/27- My friend and teammate Chrysty has a birthday tomorrow, so our 3rd grade team (plus some spouses and boyfriends) went out for dinner, drinks and a movie! We had dinner at Hayashi Sushi & Grill and then saw Angels and Demons. I wasn't very excited about the movie, but it was better than I expected!

Thursday, 5/28- Mike's older bro and his wife Paige are in Maui (yea, must be nice....we've yet to go on a honeymoon!), so Mike's mom is here all week watching their girls, Blair and Brooke. We went over there to eat dinner with her and spend some time with her and the girls. They are so cute! And Brooke is already getting so big!
